The Call of Duty: The Vanguard alpha has launched on PS4 and PS5, and gamers are wondering if it will be available on Xbox and PC. Unfortunately, Call of Duty has a habit of giving some systems timed exclusives, which means those on other platforms can’t try out the new Champion Hill mode. So, will Alpha Vanguard arrive on Xbox and PC, or are these gamers out of luck?
Will Call of Duty: Vanguard Alpha coming to Xbox and PC?
Unfortunately, the Call of Duty: Vanguard alpha will not be available on Xbox and PC. It’s a PlayStation exclusive and will only be available on PS4 and PS5.
Of course, it’s not uncommon for the alpha to only be available on PlayStation consoles. Various maps, features, and preview opportunities have been locked onto Sony hardware in the past, and the exclusivity doesn’t end with this alpha.
The Call of Duty: Vanguard Open Beta will run September 10-13 and September 16-20. The first period is reserved for PlayStation owners who have pre-ordered the game. Other platforms will finally have the chance to play Vanguard from the 16th to the 20th, but only players who have pre-ordered the game will be able to play on Xbox and PC on the 16th and 17th. This means that if you’re not on PlayStation and you’re on the fence and just want to check it out before launch, you only have September 18-20 to play.
There are no other betas currently planned before the game’s launch in November, so in total, PlayStation players get a total of 12 days to play the game before launch, compared to 3 on Xbox and PC.
It doesn’t seem quite fair for PlayStation gamers to spend a lot more time with the game before launch, but that’s how marketing is going these days. Activision made some sort of deal with Sony for timed Call of Duty exclusives, and it’s naive to think that would change with Vanguard.
