MultiVersus is a Smash Bros-style fighting game with a roster of characters from several well-known franchises. These characters include Arya Stark, Tom and Jerry, Shaggy Rogers from Scooby-Doo, Bugs Bunny, Finn and Jake from Adventure Time. Players will also be able to choose from Batman, Harley Quinn, Superman and Wonder Woman from the DC stable.

MultiVersus is designed to be free-to-play multiplayer with players learning their characters’ special abilities, such as Wonder Woman’s Lasso of Truth and Shaggy’s Sandwich Throw Attack. Game of Thrones’ Arya Stark can face-switch, though how that becomes an attack ability is still unknown, while Superman shoots lasers out of his eyes because hey, it’s Superman. Players will compete in a 2v2 format, but there’s also 1v1 and a chaotic-sounding free-for-all option. Like Smash Bros. fight on different stages and try to knock each other off their platforms and out of bounds.

Warner Bros. plans the game for Microsoft Windows, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S this year. No firm launch date has been announced, but the fact that the studio announced this playtest bodes well. The game will support full crossplay so console and PC owners can battle it out without any reason to cheat or hack, okay. The developers have also confirmed that MultiVersus will feature a strong cast of voiceover actors, including Kevin Conroy, Matthew Lillard, Maisie Williams, John DiMaggio (of Bender fame), Estelle, and Tara Strong.
