Vanguard beta start time, download size and beta access explained •


Call of Duty: The Vanguard is hosting two public beta weekends ahead of release.

Following the PS4-exclusive Alpha Vanguard late last month, the beta will feature more multiplayer, map, and operator modes.

This page will cover the Vanguard beta hours and how to access it, as well as preload time and what’s on offer for the following weekends.

Call of Duty: Vanguard beta release dates on PS4, Xbox One, and PC

The Call of Duty: Vanguard beta is available over two weekends – the first exclusively on PS4, the second on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Of course, this also applies to current generation consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series S and Series X). The dates are as follows:

Vanguard First Weekend Beta Dates (PS4 Only):

  • From Friday September 10 to Monday September 13: Early Access on PS4 (beta access required)

Vanguard Weekend Beta 2 Dates (PS4, Xbox One & PC):

  • From Thursday September 16 to Friday September 17: Open Beta on PS4 (free for PS4 players), Early Access on Xbox + PC (beta access required)
  • From Saturday September 18 to Monday September 20: Open beta on PS4, Xbox One, PC (free for all players)

Additionally, Vanguard’s second beta weekend will feature cross-play between the three platforms on the corresponding dates.

The Vanguard Beta start and end times for the Early Access and Open Beta periods across all platforms on both weekends are as follows:

  • UK: 6:00 p.m. PST
  • Europe: 7 p.m. (CEST)
  • U.S. East Coast: 1:00 p.m. (EDT)
  • US West Coast: 10:00 a.m. (PDT)

For example, with the beta open on all platforms, it will start at the above times on Saturday September 18 and also end on Monday September 20 at those times.

In addition to the start times above, you can also start downloading the Early Access Beta early to get ready and jump into the game when it launches.


Black Ops Cold War Beta preload began on Tuesday, September 7 for PS4 / PS5 owners following the Multiplayer Reveal Stream at the following start times:

  • UK: 6:00 p.m. PST
  • Europe: 7 p.m. (CEST)
  • U.S. East Coast: 1:00 p.m. (EDT)
  • US West Coast: 10:00 a.m. (PDT)

In case you were wondering about the download size for the first weekend, it’s the same for PS4 and PS5 (thanks to @PlaystationSize on Twitter for the datamine).

That being said, there are slight differences depending on your region, which you can see below:

  • United States: 8,489 GB
  • EU: 8.936 GB
  • Asia: 8.346 GB
  • JP: 8.235 GB

Call of Duty: Vanguard beta access explained

As was the case during the Black Ops Cold War beta, pre-ordering any edition, whether digitally or through select retailers, will give you access to the Vanguard beta on the Thursday and Friday before. the start of the open beta on weekends. The PS4 has Early Access available the first weekend, and Xbox One and PC the second.

If you don’t pre-order, however, you can still play the beta of Vanguard – just wait for the open beta dates that follow.

What is featured in the beta version of Call of Duty: Vanguard?

The beta of Vanguard is all about multiplayer, with the confirmation of several modes and features that weren’t available in the alpha, which focused entirely on Champion Hill. At a glance, here’s what to expect:

  • Traditional modes include Team Deathmatch, Domination, and Kill Confirmed, alongside Champion Hill (Solos, Duos, and Trios)
  • A new game mode called Patrol (based on Hardpoint) will be available starting Saturday of Weekend 1
  • Search and Destroy will be available during Weekend 2
  • Five maps including Champion Hill, Hotel Royal, Gavutu, Red Star, and Eagle’s Nest (the latter available during Weekend 2)

  • Six operators to choose from
  • As for weapons, there will be three rotating weapon sets in Champion Hill, as well as a level 30 cap for all weapons available in regular multiplayer (PlayStation players will have 12 loadout slots instead of 10 for other platforms)
  • Finally, a feature called Combat Pacing will allow players to choose between Tactical (6v6), Assault (20-28 players) and Blitz (28-48 players) matches.

Finally, those who participate in the beta and reach level 20 will receive a weapon blueprint for Vanguard and Warzone (the former will receive it upon release while it arrives in Warzone once the new main map launches later in the game. ‘year).
