Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma described golf as a game that helps nurture the mind, soul and body and promised to partner with golfers to better serve the state of Imo. ‘Imo and society.
He spoke at the ceremonial departure of the inaugural Arsenal Open golf tournament at Obinze Golf Course, near Owerri on Saturday.
During the opening ceremony, the Governor thanked the organizers for choosing Owerri, the capital of Imo State for the tournament. He also thanked the management of Polaris Bank for sponsoring the event which attracted captains of industries, local and foreign investors to Imo State.
He described the tournament as a joy, noting that it is taking place at a time when those who are unaware of the real security situation in Imo are afraid to come to the state.
“With the tournament taking place in Owerri, you can see that after all there is peace in the state and people are at home doing their normal business without fear of assault or harassment.”
Governor Uzodimma thanked the Imo Golf Captain and organizers for their continued support and assured that he will do everything in his power to give golfers, organizers and Polaris Bank the support and encouragement that they need to spend a memorable outing in Imo.
Welcoming the Governor and his entourage to the ceremony, Imo Golfers Captain Cliff Orjiakor appreciated Governor Uzodimma for gracing the ceremony and recalled the past experiences of Imo Golfers and their other colleagues across the country at the Obinze golf course.
