Total War: Warhammer 3 video accidentally leaks 4 DLC factions

Creative Assembly has revealed tons of details about the upcoming Immortal Empires campaign (opens in a new tab) for Total War: Warhammer 3 yesterday, including a bit he may not have intended to do. Sharp-eyed fans watching the Q&A session figured out what they believe to be the names of four factions that will be released for the game as DLC.

The relevant bit can be seen around 9:55 of the video embedded above, during a segment in which lead designer Mitchell Heastie discusses victory conditions while scrolling through various lists of required objectives: capturing coastal regions, razing colonies, destroy factions, control provinces, that sort of thing.

The penny dropped when it came to the “Dominion Campaign Victory” conditions, which includes a long list of factions that must be destroyed. There are around 60 in total by my quick count, which is reasonable as Immortal Empires will merge factions and maps from all three games in the Total War: Warhammer trilogy into one massive campaign. But four of the listed factions have never appeared in any of these games:

  • Ecstatic Legions
  • Fertility
  • Queen Gore’s Legion
  • Disorder puppets

Here is a still from the video where the faction names can be seen:

It’s possible these are just unannounced factions, but Creative Assembly has already revealed the new Chaos factions and thus fan sentiment on Reddit (opens in a new tab) is that these bands are more likely to be released as DLC.

Of course, Warhammer fans being Warhammer fans, there is already a lot of speculation about who will lead each of these factions: Niheli21 (opens in a new tab) consider it as Azazel, the Prince of Damnation (opens in a new tab) for the ecstatic legions, Festus the leech lord (opens in a new tab) for the Fertilites, the Gorequeen Valkia the Bloody (opens in a new tab)and Vilitch the Accursed (opens in a new tab) for the puppets of bewilderment. That’s all very War hammer.

Creative Assembly hasn’t commented on the leaked factions at this point, but I’ve asked for comment and will update if I receive a response. Total War: Warhammer 3 – Immortal Empires will be released on August 23.

Thanks, NME (opens in a new tab).
