Tahoe Douglas Rotary Hosts Golf Tournament Fundraiser

STATELINE, Nev. — The Tahoe Douglas Rotary Club is hosting its new Charity Cup golf tournament fundraiser this Saturday, June 25 at Genoa Lakes Golf Club.

The shotgun format tournament will feature a helicopter golf ball drop. The helicopter will drop all sponsored golf balls over a designated hole on the course. The “sponsored” golf ball closest to the hole will win a one-week timeshare vacation in Hawaii and $500.

The public has the opportunity to sponsor golf balls through Saturday morning, either in person, online or directly through a Rotary club member. Sponsor one golf ball, three golf balls or eight golf balls at $20, $50, $100 respectively.

Club Tournament Coordinator Cyndy Gulis said, “It will be a fun day of golf and camaraderie. In addition to our helicopter ball drop final, we’ll have prizes in the pro shop for our closest, longest and straightest drive competitions, golfers will have the chance to win a new car with the Michael Hohl-in-One Challenge. Golfers also receive breakfast burritos, box lunches and an exciting treat bag.

“Tahoe Douglas Rotary supports a number of local nonprofit community organizations each year,” said club new president Paul Thibodeau. “While one of our main fundraising efforts targets our scholarship program, we have awarded a number of grants to the SLT Boys and Girls Club, Bread and Broth, Tahoe Youth & Family Services, Live Violence Free, Tahoe Arts Projects, SLT Woman’s Center, Douglas County Search and Rescue and others.

The Rotary Charity Cup Golf Tournament begins at 9:00 a.m. with registration, breakfast, and court availability beginning at 7:30 a.m.
