GREENSBURG, Pa. – American Legion St. Clairsville Post 159 won the Atlantic Coast Baseball tournament with a 3-0-1 record over the weekend at Seton Hill University.
Post 159 (6-1-1) and the Pittsburgh Select were both 3-0 at the start of the final game on Sunday afternoon. However, after the locals drew even at the end of the seventh inning, the referees left the pitch, leaving both teams 3-0-1.
After much discussion between the organizers of the tournament, the Post 159 was declared the winner by the virtutre to abandon the fewest races.
St. Clairsville defeated the Pittsburgh Sliders 9-7 on Friday and posted an 8-2 decision over Premier Ohio on Saturday.
Mason Myers, a prospective sophomore at St. Clairsville High School, tossed a hot bat, going 6 for 7 with two triples, one double and four RBIs.
Due to rain from the OVAC All-Star game on Monday night, the Barnesville to St. Clairsville game scheduled for tonight has been postponed.
Extension 159 will participate in the New Era Classic from Thursday to Sunday. He opens the game at 9 a.m. Thursday against TCT Kings HS at Mylan Park in Morgantown. He was back in action at 11:15 am against the Pittsburgh Diamond Dawgs Black.
