HATTIESBURG, Mississippi (WDAM) – Southern Miss men’s basketball head coach Jay Ladner announced the team’s 2021-22 schedule on Tuesday.
This season will be Ladner’s third year as head coach of the Golden Eagles.
“Our schedule is the usual challenge,” Ladner said. “You are starting to see the results of our commitment to playing with teams that resonate with our fan base as well as using our calendar to help realize our vision of bringing Southern Miss basketball back to national prominence.”
USM’s first three games will take place at home with Delta State heading to the Reed Green Coliseum for an exhibit on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. ET.
After two more home games against William Carey University on November 4 and the University of Louisiana at Monroe on November 12, the Golden Eagles will hit the road for a non-conference game against Christian University of Texas on November 15 and return home. at their home. for a game against Lamar University on November 21.
Southern Miss will then spend Thanksgiving in Montana when she takes part in the Zootown Classic Nov. 24-26 before heading to the University of South Alabama on Dec. 1 and Southern Illinois University on Dec. 4.
The Golden Eagles return home on December 11 to host Loyola University in New Orleans, as well as the University of Jacksonville on December 14.
After the home visit, USM will travel to ULM on December 18 and East Carolina University on December 21 to end its non-conference programming.
“Jacksonville and Lamar are both heading to the Reed Green Coliseum for last year’s second leg,” Ladner said. “We have perhaps the most difficult schedule in the league and we are delighted to accept this challenge.”
The USM Conference-USA roster begins with home games against Western Kentucky University on December 30 and a New Years game against Marshall, before continuing their annual swing in Texas to face the University of Texas at San. Antonio on January 6, 2022, and the University of Texas at El Paso on January 8.
Louisiana Tech University will then host the Golden Eagles on Jan. 13 before USM returns home to host the Bulldogs three days later at Reed Green Coliseum, but the Golden Eagles hit the road again to face Middle Tennessee State. University on January 22.
Ladner and the Golden Eagles will end January with two home games against the University of North Texas on January 27 and Rice University on January 29.
After the two home games, USM is on their way to face Florida International University on February 3, Florida Atlantic University on February 5 and rival University of Alabama in Birmingham on February 10.
Southern Miss ends the conference with four of the last six home games as she hosts UTSA on February 17 and UTEP on February 19 before returning to Texas to face North Texas on February 24 and Rice on February 26.
UAB arrives at the Reed Green Coliseum on March 2 before USM wraps up the regular season with a Saturday game against Charlotte on March 5.
The C-USA tournament takes place March 9-12 at the Star in Frisco, Texas.
