YouTuber Logan Paul is a man with his fingers in a lot of pies, but his latest venture pissed off the Nintendo fandom quite dramatically.
Paul took a selection of Game Boy Color consoles (some of which are quite collectable) and poured epoxy resin over them to create a table – which also lights up:
The reaction online has been quite hostile, with many questioning the wisdom of effectively destroying consoles that could have provided a lifetime of entertainment.
Other people kindly point out that there are other, less destructive ways to celebrate your collection:
You could argue that what Paul has done is no different from the framed Game Boy consoles we covered not so long ago, but these have been confirmed to be defective units by the company that produces them, which which means that active consoles are not withdrawn from circulation. It’s worth pointing out that Paul could very well have used broken consoles for this project, but he has yet to confirm this.
While the whole episode upset quite a few people, there are many who just don’t see what it is:
What do you think of Paul’s creation? Do you think it’s a crime to ruin perfectly playable Game Boy Color systems, or is it a compelling enough project that it’s worth it? Let us know in the comments.
