US Open champion Emma Raducanu has “no idea” if she will be ready for Wimbledon in just under three weeks after pulling out of her match on Tuesday with an “abnormal injury” to her left side.

Raducanu faced Victorija Golubic in her first match at the Nottingham Open and was leading 4-3 when she stopped playing.

“I think I pulled something, I’m not really sure what exactly happened,” said 11th-placed Raducanu, describing it as an “absolutely weird injury”.

The next Grand Slam tournament will begin on June 27 at Wimbledon.

“I can’t diagnose myself. I’ll have it checked out,” said the 19-year-old British player.

Just over a year ago, Raducanu reached the fourth round at Wimbledon in his Grand Slam main draw debut. She won the US Open title at Flushing Meadows but hasn’t made it past the second round of both majors so far in 2022 at the Australian Open and Roland Garros.
