PlayStation jobs list hints at heavy focus on PC games

According to a new job posting, PlayStation appears to be expanding its PC efforts. Over the past few years, Sony has brought several major first-party PlayStation titles to PC. It all started with Horizon Zero Dawn, which seemed to be testing the waters for more PC ports. Once it proved to be a hit, PlayStation started bringing games like God of the war, Days gone, and some of the Uncharted games. As it stands, this seems like a successful strategy and gives PlayStation a unique way to compete with Microsoft. While Microsoft has made Xbox a platform outside of consoles, allowing its games on PC from day one, PlayStation is putting older games on PC to entice gamers to come and play its sequels on a console.

It looks like PlayStation has no intention of stopping, however. A new job offer indicates that the platform holder wants to hire someone to help lead and plan strategies for PlayStation’s PC division. Some responsibilities include working with partners such as Epic and Steam, identifying avenues for business growth for the division, and more. At this time, PlayStation hasn’t announced any major PC releases beyond the upcoming Uncharted Collection, so it’s unclear what the next games are for the platform. It seems likely that a series like The Last of Us or Spider-Man would be a big hit on PC, but given that these are such important titles for Sony, they may want to continue using them as decoys. potential to buy a PlayStation.

It’s hard to imagine Sony doubling down on PC as a day one platform. Although Microsoft has had huge success with this, PlayStation marquee exclusives consistently sell big numbers as console exclusives and are the main reasons people buy a console. It makes more sense for PlayStation to use the PC as a way to double sales after they’ve disappeared from consoles and as a way to help market potential sequels.
