NXT United Kingdom Championship Semi-Finals: Trent Seven defeats Oliver Carter (9:15)

Seven mocked Carter’s knee injury early on and went to attack the knee, but Carter quickly threw him out of the ring and followed it up with a dive. Carter held his knee at impact.

Back in the ring, Seven hit a dragon screw through the ropes on Carter while still on the apron on the outside. Seven continued to work on the knee, which resulted in Carter screaming in pain. Seven hit a knee and clung to the leg, but Carter managed to turn another attempt into a sunset for a near fall.

Carter finally hit a moonsault for another near fall. Seven came back with an Emerald Frosion for a near pinfall before Carter countered an attempt by Seven Star Lariat in a forearm smash and followed with a missile dropkick from the top.

Carter followed that up with an ax kick and scored another close two count. He went for a corner attack but fell apart in the spring. Carter still caught Seven in a small package and nearly won the match. Seven then locked herself in a figure four leg, which Carter fought valiantly to escape, but eventually succumbed to the pain and tapped out.

NXT United Kingdom Championship Semi-Finals: Tyler Bate vs. Joe Coffey (12:00)

They traded holds and counters early on with neither man able to take the lead. After trading shoulder blocks, Bate took Coffey down with a dropkick. Coffey hit the Glasgow Sendoff in the corner and nearly went down.

Shortly after, Coffey locked himself in a bear hug. Bate fought back but actually ended up on the receiving end of a giant swing. They traded punches and Bate hit a right hook as Coffey landed a combination body shot. Bate followed up with a spinning European uppercut and running Shooting Star Press for another near fall.

Coffey hit a belly-to-belly suplex overhead for a near pinfall, then caught Bate as he came off the ropes and hit a nasty German suplex before locking in a Boston crab.

Bate crawled to the ropes, but Coffey brought him back to the center of the ring. Bate eventually managed to escape by getting out of the way and landing a few kicks. Bate escaped the Glasgow Sendoff but still got caught with the double jump reverse crossbody. He got through and scored another two count. They traded lariats and Coffey actually hit All the Best for the Bells as Bate bounced off the ropes with his slingshot lariat.

Both men were down, so Coffey failed to get cover. Bate then hit a rolling koppu kick and went for the ’97 Tyler Driver, which Coffey countered with a back body drop. Bate landed on his feet, hit a forearm and caught Coffey in a backslide for the win.

Bate will face his former Mustache Mountain partner Seven in the finals of the vacant NXT UK Championship.

Seven came out after the match and teased his ring entrance, but then chickened out. He yelled at Bate from the ring as – in a throwback to the World of Sport days – a grandma in the front row berated Seven.

Second round

Dar went for an armband right away, but Coffey got up and locked one of hers away. Coffey worked Dar’s arm on some more. Coffey got a two count on a roll-up, then missed an elbow off the ropes. Dar hit a diving forearm and scored a close drop to himself.

Third round

Fourth round

Dar struggled to get to her feet but was still swaying. Coffey went for a full nelson, but Dar backed him into the ropes to break the hold. Dar still looked to her feet but ran into a few desperate forearms. Coffey went to the second turnbuckle for an attack, but Dar tripped between the ropes and fell to ringside. The ref checked on Dar and told Coffey to back off.

Dar collapsed repeatedly each time Coffey attempted another attack, prompting the referee to stop Coffey. Dar then suddenly went for a Lightning Pin and nearly fell. Dar then locked the kneepad and Coffey tapped. Dar 1-1

fifth round

Coffey went back to the ropes but thought it over and hit a bulldog instead. Coffey went for the Gator lock, but Dar got out of it and switched to an armbar, which Coffey turned into a windup.

They briefly struggled on the top rope, but Dar slipped under Coffey and kicked his leg. Dar locked the knee cap again with 20 seconds left in the round. Coffey fought his way out and was finally successful at the end of the round.

Sixth round

They traded holds early and Coffey pulled away from a guillotine attempt. Coffey hit a baseball slide which sent Dar out of the ring and Coffey quickly brought him back inside. Suddenly, Sha Samuels jumped the barricades behind Coffey and rammed Coffey’s head into the ring post. As Coffey returned to the ring, Dar hit the Nova Roller to win the round, the match, and the NXT UK Heritage Cup. Dar wins 2-1

Dar and Samuels hugged after the match and celebrated in the ring with the Heritage Cup. Thus concludes the penultimate episode of NXT UK.

Final Thoughts —

As far as wrestling goes, it was a great show with three good to great matches. It’s painfully clear, however, that these episodes only exist to finalize ongoing stories and aerial matches that had already been taped. Other than the women’s quadruple announcement next week, there were no angles, behind-the-scenes segments, interviews or anything else to build on for the future, which we know is there. does not exist for the brand.

If you saw NXT 2.0 this Tuesday, you also know who will win the quadruple next week. And, of course, we also know the outcome of the tournament final. The two matches will nevertheless probably be very good.

Next week —

  • NXT United Kingdom Championship Tournament Finals: Tyler Bate vs. Trent Seven
  • NXT UK Women’s Championship number one contender four-elimination match: Blair Davenport vs. Isla Dawn vs. Amale vs. Eliza Alexander
