Flag tournament organized by ZCC

The Zanesville Country Club hosted their annual flag tournament on Sunday with an individual NET tournament format where handicap + par = flag score and the furthest flag on the course wins.

Chas Pavalko won the Blue Tee Division with Scott Moyer in second and Brad Melsheimer in third, while Ben Hess finished first in the Blue-White Tee Division with Kevin Miller in second, Scott Wegner in third and Clint Cameron in fourth.

Lucas Howard won the White Tee division with JC McLendon in second, and the Green Tee winner was Becky Weir with Vicky French in second.

JG CC & Track will host a 5K event

John Glenn Cross County and Track Boosters announce that registration is open for Fireman’s Festival 5K Walk & Run (Live & Virtual) on Saturday July 10 at New Concord. The race starts at 9 a.m. and the $ 30 registration fee includes a T-shirt for registrants.

The race is part of the annual New Concord Firefighters Festival. Registration can be found online at: http://runsignup.com/Race/OH/NewConcord/FiremansFestival5kWalkRunLiveVirtual.

Sponsorship opportunities are available and; sponsors will be recognized in promotions and racing materials, including gift bags for runners, signage and social media. Volunteers who wish to connect with community service are also needed for the event.

Proceeds from the race are donated to the John Glenn track and cross country teams for equipment and training needs. COVID-19 guidelines will be observed for all participants and volunteers. For more information, contact Race Director Arianne Davis at [email protected]

Goins Scholarship Scramble will take place

The third annual Myron and Ruth Goins Memorial Scramble Scholarship will be held July 18 at Fuller’s Fairways. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with a shotgun departure at 8:30 a.m.

Y-City League Hosts Coaches Pitch Tournament

The Y-City Midget League will host an All-Star Coaching Tournament on July 24-25.

The cost of the event is $ 150 with a four game guarantee and is open to All-Star teams only. Travel teams are not allowed.

Bishops soccer camp is approaching

The Bishops Junior Soccer Camp, for Kindergarten to Grade 8 students, will be held July 19-21 at Rosecrans High School.

The camp runs from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily and the cost is $ 35. To register, contact Hugh Maxwell at 740-319-4764.

New Lex CC hosting 5K Run / Walk in July

The new Lexington Cross Country 5K Run / Walk will take place at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 17 at New Lexington High School.

All proceeds will go to our cross country team. The cost is $ 25 per registration and the first 30 registrations will receive a free shirt and bracelet (subject to increase if registrations exceed expectations). Prizes will be awarded to female and male winners in each age group (14 and under, 15-20, 21-29, 30-39, 40+).
