Merrimack @ Indiana
Current records: Merrimack 4-7; Indiana 7-2
What there is to know
The Indiana Hoosiers face the Merrimack Warriors at noon ET on Sunday at home. IU want to maintain their seven-game winning streak at home.
The Hoosiers were within striking range but couldn’t close the gap Wednesday as they lost 64-59 to the Wisconsin Badgers. Guard Xavier Johnson didn’t really make a difference for IU; Johnson finished with ten points on a 4-on-16 shot during his 27 minutes on the field.
Meanwhile, a win for Merrimack just wasn’t in the stars on Thursday, as the team never even took a temporary lead. They must be in pain after an 80-55 loss to the Gonzaga Bulldogs. Merrimack was no doubt aware of their 33 point disadvantage in the point spread, but foreknowledge did nothing to prevent the result. The losing team was bolstered by goaltender Ziggy Reid, who tallied 16 points.
The losses put IU at 7-2 and the Warriors at 4-7. A pair of stats to keep in mind as you watch: The Hoosiers have kept their opponents at a 35.40% field goal percentage, which puts them sixth in college basketball. Less enviable, Merrimack only managed to reverse 38.30 percent of their shots, which is the eighth lowest field goal percentage in college basketball.
