Initially unveiled during the PlayStation 5 showcase in June 2020, Kena: Bridge of Spirits is the first game from indie development studio Ember Lab. The studio is best known for its background in computer animation, creating the animated short, Majora’s Mask – Terrible Fate, which has already taken The Legend of Zelda’s various online communities by storm. During the showcase, the game wowed viewers with its detailed and expressive character designs, as well as lush green landscapes. Most of this was due to gorgeous art direction that was immediately compared to a production by Pixar Animation Studios. In Kena: Bridge of Spirits, you play as the titular Kena, a spirit guide whose job it is to help lost souls cross safely to the other side after they die. The game takes place in a fictional village in the heart of a forest area long deserted after a tragedy that occurred there several years before. Much of your time would be spent exploring the land and cleaning it up from the corruption that has since taken hold, as you work to uncover the full story.

These include collecting rot, tiny spirit creatures that help you solve most of the environmental puzzles in the game. You can also unlock little hats for them by finding them or buying them with in-game currency, as well as ‘by delivering Spirit Mail to them that helps unlock new areas and rewards.
