Genshin Impact-a-like Tower of Fantasy gets a new character trailer

Hotta Studio has released a new Tower of Fantasy trailer highlighting some of the characters you can expect to meet in the upcoming Genshin Impact-style RPG. At least that’s what the trailer says, but it puts just as much emphasis on showcasing some of the traversal methods you can use to get around the sci-fi world of Aida, including a mechanical hull and a robotic unicorn. While Tower of Fantasy looks and, as of the beta, plays a lot like Genshin Impact, the trailer helps show what makes Hotta’s open-world adventure a little different.

For one thing, you can apparently use a character’s abilities on your own protagonist without altering their appearance, which is handy assuming you can customize their appearance. There’s also a wider variety of weapons on display, which feel unique to the characters using them. Shiro wields massive chakra, Samir wields pistols, and Cocoritter wields what looks like a magic staff.

Although it looks like most characters have a standard set of attacks and two skills, similar to Genshin Impact, it looks like the variety of weapons will create a more unique combat setting.

It helps that there is also a wider variety of enemies to fight. Hotta released a battle trailer earlier in July showing just a taste of combat in Tower of Fantasy, and in this one we see massive monsters, robots gone mad, people gone mad from robots who apparently possess them, and a little Suite.

These appear to be one-time encounters, though the character trailer also shows the usual regular battles you likely have to fight for character progression, like Genshin and other gacha games.

It’s still unclear when Tower of Fantasy might release, but with the increasing cadence of news drops, we’d be surprised if Hotta didn’t plan to release it soon.

Meanwhile, if you need something to help you out, HoYoverse is gearing up to release lots of new updates to Genshin Impact, including the Sumeru region and new Dendro characters in the coming weeks.
