Fan Can’t Wait For Hogwarts Legacy Release Date Does It Himself

With Hogwarts Legacy release date now set for next year, after the recent release date postponement, a young developer and Harry Potter fan decided to remake the next RPG game in the Unity engine to help them learn more about game development.

Although this fan version of Hogwarts Legacy is never made public, indie developer Arnie designed it to perfect his craft, and it looks like a lot of fun. For the avoidance of doubt, this has nothing to do with Avalanche Studios’ game, with Arnie even calling their game “Henwarts Legacy” to be sure.

The open-world game uses an imported Hogwarts castle and a series of Unity assets and plugins to help create the landscape and wizard-related architecture, with Arnie even creating game mechanics and magic spells. to accompany him.

Some of the spells in the Hogwarts Legacy fan-game are pretty simple, like a spell that lights up your wand in dark areas, or one that levitates objects for a brief moment. On the wackier side though, Arnie has created a spell that turns an item into a chicken, and another that then lets you capture the chicken.

The second half of Arnie’s Hogwarts Legacy video is filled with cinematic and gameplay footage, which really highlights the amount of effort that went into creating the fan-game. There’s the Covered Bridge, the Moving Stairs, and even Hagrid. Robbie Coltrane doesn’t reprise his role, but the text-to-speech works just as well.

Of course, this project is not as ambitious as the official Hogwarts legacy, but the commitment to creating a Harry Potter world and relevant game mechanics is certainly admirable and will certainly fulfill the anticipation of the release date of Hogwarts Legacy.

Arnie’s creation and journey is a refreshing look at making games, and if you ever fancy delving into the world of development, this shows what goes into creating a game world and the relevant mechanisms.

If you’re eagerly awaiting Hogwarts Legacy’s release date, you might not have to wait too long for an update, as a developer from Avalanche Studios recently teased the community by saying the team is “very aware” that you all want to see Hogwarts Legacy gameplay.

Harry Potter series creator JK Rowling has made several transphobic remarks on social media in recent years. While WB Games claims that “JK Rowling was not directly involved in the creation of the game”, it is based on her work and it is still unclear whether she will receive royalties from her sales.
