The Visual Novel Chaos; Head Noah will no longer be coming to Steam as originally planned in early October. The reason given was that “Steam guidelines required changes to game content”.
The Nintendo Switch version of the game will still release on the original October 7 launch date.
Editor Spike Chunsoft says they are investigating alternative storefronts to launch the title on PC and will let fans know with more details at a later date.
Chaos;Head Noah is an enhanced port of the original Chaos;Head which was released for PC in Japan in 2008. The game is the first entry in the “Science Adventure” series alongside Steins;Gate and Robotics;Notes and is set in the same universe as these titles. This version of the game will be the first time it has been officially localized in English.
While Steins;Gate revolves around theoretical time travel and Robotic;Notes covers robots and AR technology, the Chaos;Head sub-series revolves around psychology. The game’s main character is Nishijou Takumi, a closeted otaku who frequently experiences vivid hallucinations. He later becomes involved in a series of serial murders called the “New Gen” murders.
Although it has no explicit content, Chaos; Head contains heavy fan service and intense violence that could have caused issues with Steam’s guidelines, although nothing has been confirmed.
The game will release on Switch as part of a double pack alongside its direct sequel Chaos;Child. This game was originally released in Japan on Xbox One in 2014 before being ported and localized for an international audience on PS4 and PS Vita in 2017. Chaos;Child is already available on Steam.
The Chaos;Head/Chaos;Child Double Pack will release for Nintendo Switch on October 7, 2022. The PC version of Chaos;Head will likely release at some point in the near future.
