Apex Legends Season 14 has kicked off with a bang, with new content pushing the FPS game to a Steam player record of over half a million concurrent players. New character Vantage is leading the charge with his adorable bat sidekick, Echo, and players have been flocking to try him out on the reworked Kings Canyon map in the battle royale game.

The SteamDB records for Apex Legends show that it reached a maximum concurrent player count of 511,676 players on August 10, a day after the launch of Hunted, the game’s fourteenth season. maximum level of Apex Legends, as well as major changes to the Kings Canyon map.

It also ends one of the game’s longest lasting features, the self-reviving golden knockdown shield, which was removed from the game entirely. This means the end of self-reviving in Apex Legends, which means that you will no longer be able to pull off those solo clutch moments after recovering from an unfortunate knockdown.

This new all-time concurrent player count puts Apex Legends comfortably in third place on Steam’s current active player count chart at the time of writing, behind only Counter-Strike: GO and Dota 2. It also sits above the Battle Royale game PUBG: Battlegrounds in fourth place. It’s important to note that these are Steam numbers only, which means that the total number of Apex Legends players on PC will be even higher if you include the numbers from the Origin platform. ‘EA.

Some users on the game’s subreddit were previously pushing for a “No Apex August” to protest perceived issues with the game, but any hint of that seems to have fallen flat in light of the game’s recent success. Developer Respawn has also pushed to resolve many of the most common complaints in recent weeks, such as finalizing a long-standing issue with Loba’s wristband not working under certain circumstances.

However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing – a notable bug in Apex Legends Season 14 is confusing players by swapping abilities with other Legends. Be sure to check out our Apex Legends Character Tier List and our Apex Legends Weapon Tier List to get a head start on your competition in the multiplayer game if you plan to join the rest of the playerbase. – it certainly seems like a good time to do that.

Meta is shutting down one of its biggest VR games – but only for Quest 1 owners https://fsc-clan.org/meta-is-shutting-down-one-of-its-biggest-vr-games-but-only-for-quest-1-owners/ Sun, 07 Aug 2022 17:45:06 +0000 https://fsc-clan.org/meta-is-shutting-down-one-of-its-biggest-vr-games-but-only-for-quest-1-owners/

Around the same time Meta increased the price of its Quest 2 headsets, it also announced that it was ending support for Quest 1 for Population one, a popular Battle Royale shooter set in virtual reality. BigBox VR, the Meta-owned developer behind the game, shared the update in a blog postnoting that owners of Quest 1 will no longer be able to launch or play the game from October 31, 2022.

BigBox VR says the shutdown is necessary so it can focus on developing new experiences “that will push the boundaries of multiplayer virtual reality.” The developers note that you can still play Population: one by air link – a feature that lets you play games wirelessly on your PC from your headset – but that means repurchasing the game on Steam if you haven’t already. Players using Quest 2, Oculus Rift, and Oculus Rift S will still have access to the game.

While Meta is offering Quest 1 owners a refund for Population: one, there’s a catch: you had to have purchased the game from the Quest Store within the last six months. The policy seems a bit unfair for a game that launched on Quest nearly two years ago and will likely leave a number of players with a game they can’t even play (unless, of course, upgrade to Quest now at $399.2 or use Air Link, which requires an expensive VR-ready PC).

Population: oneMeta’s shutdown also raises the question of whether other developers will soon drop support for the three-year-old Quest 1. Meta spokeswoman Caiti Sullivan said in a statement to The edge that the company is “currently working on the details of an ecosystem-wide end-of-support process” and that “other developers who choose to end support for apps on Quest 1 can do it”. Meta declined to comment further when asked if more games will end support for Quest 1 in the near future.

I know games can’t support all older systems forever, but giving a price increase, along with an announcement that will soon leave Quest 1 owners with one less game to play, is like a double punch in the gut. As my colleague Jay Peters points out, Meta could raise the price of the Quest 2, and perhaps even push users towards it, to stem the losses its VR arm has reported both in the first and second quarter of 2022.

This week it’s Unrailed, a cooperative game about building railroads through the unpredictable wilderness, with your friends. Next week, Epic revealed that we’ll be getting the third installment of the frantic restaurant simulator, Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3!?

As in the two previous games, Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3!? is to take orders from hungry customers and fill them as quickly as possible. You set up your menu, then cook dishes to order by pressing the keys assigned to each action and ingredient. You might get an order for a cheeseburger with mustard and ketchup, plus everything but the onions. The burger should be fried without burning it, placed on a bun, then added the requested dressings.

It gets frenetic quickly, especially during busy lunch and dinner times – you’ll have to manage multiple orders at once, with multiple cooking and prep stations all active at the same time. In Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3?!, the setting has changed from a dining hall to a food truck, which you drive through a post-apocalyptic version of the United States with a pair of helpful androids.

Here is the trailer:

You can pick up Cook, serve, delicious! 3? ! August 11 from 8am PT / 11am ET / 6pm BST, when it first hits the Epic Games Store.

League of Legends Project L will be free https://fsc-clan.org/league-of-legends-project-l-will-be-free/ Mon, 01 Aug 2022 17:54:00 +0000 https://fsc-clan.org/league-of-legends-project-l-will-be-free/

League of Legends fighting game Project L is free, or will be at every launch, Riot announced in a brief new update video. Project L Senior Director Tom Cannon said the team wants to continue Riot’s tradition of making games accessible to everyone, regardless of where they live or how much money they might spend on them. video games, and while Cannon hasn’t said so, the news naturally means the game will likely have microtransactions too. Cannon didn’t offer a release date for Project L, but said the team has moved on from laying the groundwork and is now designing champions and new mechanics to help expand the core gameplay.

Elsewhere, Riot published a detailed article development blog outlining the process of bringing one of these champions to life in Project L: Illaoi. The team thought about the many factors they consider when designing a champion for Project L, including their role in LoL, as well as the personalities and abilities of other League properties, such as as the Cursed King and Legends of Runeterra.

The team wants to capture the essence of what makes a champion what they are and the potential of what they could be. Illaoi in Project L is truly larger than life, with big hitboxes and even bigger attacks. She strikes her enemies with her totem and, true to her LoL variant, summons ghostly tentacles of Nagakabouros to aid her. This relationship went through a few changes before the team settled on something they felt fit Illaoi’s personality, with her as the dominant force and the power of Nagakabouros playing a supporting role.

She’s slow, but adept at creating openings to hit opponents and keep them on the defensive. She’s also still in early development, so we probably won’t hear much more about Illaois or Project L anytime soon.

Cannon said he would have another update on the fighting game later in 2022, but gave no indication of when that might happen. We’ve waited long enough for an update since the first gameplay of Project L, so having another one to expect in the same year is actually quite exciting.

In the meantime, if you’re wondering how much you’re likely to spend on Project L, there’s a nifty new way to track how much you’ve spent in League of Legends. However, microtransactions aren’t always bad. Proceeds from Star Trek’s recent series of LoL skins have gone to charity.

Dr Disrespect’s game is called Deaddrop, watch some early gameplay footage https://fsc-clan.org/dr-disrespects-game-is-called-deaddrop-watch-some-early-gameplay-footage/ Sun, 31 Jul 2022 03:53:19 +0000 https://fsc-clan.org/dr-disrespects-game-is-called-deaddrop-watch-some-early-gameplay-footage/

Midnight Society, the development studio founded by Dr Disrespect, has revealed the name and some background details about the multiplayer FPS formerly known as Project Moon. It’s called Deaddrop, and according to the Midnight Society Website (opens in a new tab)it’s set in the year “2020.b”, when self-contained megastructures called Refiner States transform toxic air pollutants into a valuable addictive substance called “space dust”.

The summary continues: “Previously government-owned facilities, the lucrative trade in ‘DUST’ has now led to the forced occupation of the REFINER STATES by competing factions vying for control of towers and resources at the interior.” Players will presumably take on the role of members of these factions, the Skins and Syns, who fight each other and the Cleaners who currently control the skyscrapers of Refiner State.
