South Florida @ # 15 BYU
Current records: South Florida 1-2; BYU 3-0
What there is to know
The South Florida Bulls have enjoyed the comforts of home in their last two games, but now they have to hit the road. They will face the BYU Cougars at 10:15 p.m. ET on Saturday at LaVell Edwards Stadium. These two teams are looking to build on the momentum of their previous victories.
It all went in the direction of the Bulls against the Florida A&M Rattlers last week as they won 38-17. The match was played around half-time, when the score already reached 24-3.
Meanwhile, BYU claimed a 27-17 victory over the Arizona State Sun Devils last week. The team ran away with 21 points in the first half and mostly sat on those in the second to secure the victory. No one has had a standout game offensively for BYU, but they got scores from a handful of players including TE Isaac Rex, RB Tyler Allgeier and WR Gunner Romney.
BYU’s defense was a force to be reckoned with as it tallied two interceptions and three fumbles. The choices came courtesy of LB Max Tooley and DB Malik Moore.
South Florida is clearly the underdog, so they’re hoping it’s the size of the fight that determines this one. True fans might be the only ones betting on them, currently 0-2 ATS, to cover the spread.
The wins took South Florida to 1-2 and the Cougars to 3-0. A few defensive stats to keep in mind as you watch: The Bulls are 235th worst nationally in yards allowed per game, averaging 523.7. BYU had its own struggles as it stumbled into the game with the 181st most passing yards allowed per game in the country, having given up 252.3 on average. It’s possible that one of those Achilles’ heels will end up tripping the losing team.
