The last major tournament of the 2022 golf season is in its first round as the Open Championship has begun its 150th historic tournament in St. Andrews. The beauty of summer surrounds Scotland as The Open returns to the birthplace of golf for the first time since 2015. This week marks the 30th occasion that the Old Course has hosted the Open, and given the the anniversary, the location, the extremely talented field, the presence of Tiger Woods and the state of the game, many refer to this event as one of the most important in history.

The Camerons – Young and Smith – took the top two spots in the clubhouse after the first session with Rory McIlroy grinding between them before the end of the first round. Young posted a stunning bogey-free 8-under 64 to take the solo lead, dropping 5 under up front and 3 under aft. McIlroy sits two back after coming out of a great debut of his own in which he shot 4 under up front to finish with a 66 – in good stead to win his first major championship since 2014. Smith was equally strong coming in at 3 under and birdie on the latter for his 67 .

Although he was absent from the US Open for treatment with the specific goal of playing at the Open, Tiger Woods got off to a rocky start from the first tee. He scored double bogeys on the 1st and 7th, carding a 5 of 41 up front vying for a 6 out of 78, placing him among the bottom 10 golfers in the rankings of his favorite course in the world. It is only one of nine takeaways from the first round to the Open.

While attending The Open Championship can be fun and, especially this year, memorable, just being able to watch golf on one of the game’s biggest stages in St. Andrews is an incredible pleasure. CBSSports.com is thrilled to bring you comprehensive coverage of The Open all week.

Enough talk. Here’s how you can watch as much of The Open as possible by Sunday. Be sure to stick with CBS Sports for live coverage throughout the 2022 Major Finals.
