Nevada @ State of Boise
Current records: Nevada 2-1; Boise State 2-2
What there is to know
The Nevada Wolf Pack should enter this game well rested after a week of rest. Nevada and the Boise Broncos will face off in a Mountain West battle at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at Albertsons Stadium. Boise State will strut after a win while the Wolf Pack will stumble after a loss.
Nevada suffered a grim 38-17 loss to the Kansas State Wildcats two weeks ago. It was supposed to be a close game, and Nevada was supposed to win, but none of those things ultimately happened. Quarterback Carson Strong didn’t really make a difference for Nevada; Strong threw an interception.
Meanwhile, the Broncos made it easier for the Utah State Aggies last week and earned a 27-3 victory. Boise State QB Hank Bachmeier pitched him as he passed for two touchdowns and 288 yards on 40 attempts in addition to picking up 44 rushing yards. Bachmeier hadn’t helped his team much against the Oklahoma State Cowboys two weeks ago, so it was a good turnaround for him.
The Wolf Pack are now 2-1 while Boise State is 2-2. Two offensive stats to watch out for: Nevada is stumbling into the game with the 227th fewest rushing yards per game in the nation, averaging just 77. Boise States have had an even tougher time: They are 215th worst in the country in rushing yards per game, averaging just 87.5. Ground yards could be a real commodity in this one.
