August is nearing its final days, but there are still a few big releases on the horizon before the month is out. The bad news is that September is a bit slow month, so we’re going to miss the August buzz, but it looks like we’re at least ending this week with a lot of variety. Whether you’re looking for co-op shooters, virtual escape rooms, or nostalgic single-player adventures, there’s a little bit of everything coming this week.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite

Before you ask, this is not a Left 4 Dead clone. In his preview, associate editor Eric Switzer found Aliens: Fireteam Elite much more than a cheap knockoff, calling it a “worthy addition to the [Alien] franchise. “Seems like there are a lot of formulas where aliens borrow from the Valve classic, but Fireteam Elite is looking to sport an extra layer of depth with lite RPG elements that should keep things fresh. thing that you can drag three of your closest friends around and sacrifice them to the series’ terrifying xenomorphs, so go ahead and clear your schedule this Tuesday.

The name doesn’t instill much faith in your chances of success, but maybe you will. This week, developer Schell Games brings you a VR Escape Room – I Think You Should Die 2 – where you’ll focus on the important things, like not dying. As a super secret spy, you will solve puzzles with telekinetic powers and dig the secrets of the game’s big bad, Zoraxis.

Double Fine’s cult classic is another we’ve had the chance to try out before, and our very own George Foster sings his praises in his preview. Calling it a “classic platforming gem,” George already seems optimistic about the sequel’s ability to truly deliver an experience that’s just as memorable as the original. For those of you who aren’t looking to spend too much money next week, Psychonauts 2 is still great value, as the game is also coming to Xbox Game Pass at launch.

Travis returns next week, and Grasshopper Manufacture’s action-adventure title looks wilder than ever. Last month we got a glimpse of some in-game toilet unclogging action – just in case you were worried that there might not be a thrill from incorporating the Switch motion controllers. If you’re not very keen on fighting the creepy xenomorphs of aliens, maybe No More Heroes 3 will be a bit faster, as Travis Touchdown struggles to save the world from an invasion once again. alien and a galactic overlord.

You read that right, and yes, Myst is as old as I am. This Journey to Myst Island is however a remake, rebuilt with new sounds, art, and interactions. Myst will also launch with new accessibility and location options, opening up its mysterious world to even more players. This is the first time Microsoft console users will have access to the series, and it’s a bit of a gaming classic, just in case you missed it.
