The 2021 WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational marks the end of a long regular season for many of the world’s best who enter TPC Southwind this week. After a summer filled with high-profile tournaments, this regular season will end next week at the Wyndham Championship, which the majority of the top players will ignore to prepare for the FedEx Cup playoffs.
It is also the second consecutive limited-field, no-cup tournament after competing at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics last week. While this pitch featured some of the best players in the world, this one features almost all of them with world number 1 Jon Rahm the only top 25 player not in attendance. When the biggest stars in the sport show up, there are always plenty of stories to watch out for.
Dustin Johnson is trying to secure his first PGA Tour victory of 2021 on a course he has dominated in the past. Rory McIlroy is trying to keep up the momentum he built in Tokyo last week. Xander ScHotele returns to the PGA Tour as a gold medalist. Collin Morikawa returns to the PGA Tour as a two-time major champion. Jordan Spieth has quietly been one of the best players in the world this summer, even though he hasn’t scored a W.
There is a ton to watch this week in Memphis as this tournament unfolds, and you can do so throughout the week on the platforms listed below.
